Please don't use rtf as the text format. IMHO it is best to
use XML or some other totally free and open format. RTF is
essentially a microsoft format, and most of the RTF tools
that work are from microsoft. I can help develop XML DTD and
XSLT stylesheets so that we can generate PDF/PS/RTF/HTML
files from XML files. I have been working on XML based
document technologies for the past year, so I can answer
queries regarding the various issues with XML. Please..
please don't use RTF. It is not as open as it seems to be!
And it imposes no structure on the documents.

What about jpeg? That is also a free and open standard that
is used in a wide variety of places.

And what about people who do the downloads of free software?
Or who get the source material. IMHO if we charge money for
duplication, etc then things can get quite messy :(
