*LL*: widely-used? yes. free? no! jpeg is suddenly discovered to be someone's
elses property ("u down with O.P.P?") who are charging royalties for its use.
first they are targetting the hardware guyz, and then they'll target the
software guyz, and so on, down the chain. i believe, sony has already paid a
massive licensing fee.
