I agree with Mick, Cliff and Bob. But reading through all these posts, I did have an idea. We could identify some kind of gift that everyone in the band would enjoy. It could be something that makes touring more bearable, or maybe a fruit/cheese basket, wine, flowers, etc.
A group of friends attending an IM show could chip in for such a gift (better to keep it among friends; a PayPal thing might result in more money being collected than the gift costs). Something like this might even happen at a few different shows on the current tour (food would be consumed, so the band wouldn't have to bring home tons of merchandise). The benefit here is, rather than some sort of payment for a particular show or taping, a few thoughtful gifts would be a more general appreciation of the band, the music, and their allowing us to roll tape on some priceless moments. I know everyone's experience of IM is enriched by hearing them live, whether in person or recorded (someday we'll have that live album). BTW, although I speak of food above, I don't think we need to go the route of the Judy Tenuta fans and bring them canned goods! :-) Folks who saw Judy in the 80s will remember this fun method of tribute.
