Hey Dale; Have you tried using different media, I know your media is at 40x but sometimes CD-RW's can be picky about what they write on! I have had this experience with my PC using easy CD Creator. Once I used TDK and Sony media and could not get them to burn at same speeds, TDK Burned up to 4x faster every time, when I took them back to my imac which is only 8x they both did the same!
