Joel, In my case, I purchased a pre-made length of cable, 100 feet long, and discovered I needed another 5 feet or so (arrgghh) and ended up using a connector to attach another length of cable. Lesson learned: always start with MORE wire than you think you need! :)
I have no idea if you can attach the connector after the fact; that would definitely make it easier as I had to drill extra-large holes to fit the wire and the connector through. Good luck with the install! Paul -----Original Message----- Paul, I just got off the phone with the apple store as my iMac will not be in for 2 weeks..we talked about this very thing..I need to run this wire down to the basement (that is easy, my router is in a room with a closet that goes down there..that is how I ran my speakes in this room from my living room. Then I need to run the wire along the basement ceiling and up another closed that will go to my crawl type attic (a cape so it is easy access) and into her room..so yes I can. The wire he recomends is $.55 a foot, and I will need between 100 and more feet..I need to do an estimate. I don't know if I can put the ethernet connection on after I run all of the wire, it would sure make life easier...
