Clarification -- AppleCare is not available for INDIVIDUALS in Florida. 
It is available for businesses.

It has to do with Florida's very-stringent consumer-protection laws. I 
don't know what specifically it is about AppleCare that doesn't pass 
muster, but I strongly suspect it's mostly the lack of lightning 
protection. We are the lightning capital of the US.
