when you create a new message, it inherits the account that the 
currently selected message belongs to.

in english.... all of my Low End Mac list messages are delivered to my 
-third- account. if i'm in the inbox for that third account, and choose 
'compose', it makes a new message that's defaulted to the third account.

try making sure that no messages are selected...
