Will we are on the subject, I have a '99 DV SE 400 slotloader and have
decided to put in a new HD, probably a Western Digital 120 7200rpm 8mb. Will
this be a fairly straight forward DIY project? All I have done up to this
point is install ram. What problems are likley to occur?

It's a very straight forward project. Requiring only the same cautions you would take with any other hard drive installation. The only comment I would make is it's easier to remove the carrier with both the CD and HD installed and change the HD after removal. Follow the manual's take apart instructions and it's a simple job. If you have any doubts about opening the case up? Then call your friendly, neighborhood Apple tech.
