here is a link that I found very helpful. It is a step by step guide to replacing a hard drive in an iMac. http://www.macworld.com/2001/10/bc/howtoimac/
I replaced the original 6GB 5400 Maxtor in my slot loading iMac with a 80GB 7200 Maxtor. I had concerns that the 7200 rpm was going to be too hot, however I have not found it to be at all. I typically leave my mac on for days at a time. I have a copy of GaugePro from Newertech.com and the cpu runs about 107 degrees F. Hope this helps. jt ________________________________________________________________ The best thing to hit the internet in years - NetZero HiSpeed! Surf the web up to FIVE TIMES FASTER!
