Sorry to bring up an 8.6 question. As my rev B is having problems with certain websites (freezing at the same place with the same sites), my thought is something is damaged.
That's not the thought I'm having.
It doesn't freeze with Netscape, but I like IE much better.
So YOU'RE the person who still likes IE! I knew it must be somebody. :)
The statement above basically proves that the problem is not with your system. If it were, Netscape wouldn't be able to overcome it. Reinstalling might fix the problem, but isn't the actual solution. You might try dumping IE's preferences to see if that helps.
