Hmmm.....as long as it is an ATA disk, formating to OS 9, OS 10 or Windows XP shouldn't matter.

Upon installation you will need to have a way to initialize the disk with .....what was it?...Drive Setup......which means....

You must have a way of booting the Mac with its system CD or some such thing to access Drive Setup.....and configure your HD....

I would also recommend that you consider partitioning the HD so that you can have two disk icons on your desktop and two systems for emergency repairs.....

Hi:
I have an IMac 333 running OS 8.6 and a Beige G3 running OS 9.2. The Western Digital 80 MB HD i just purchased from Office Max for $49.99 Net after rebates indicates on the outside of the box that it requires OS 10 for Mac's. I presume this has something to do with the formatting disc enclosed in the package.

Before opening the package I'd like to confirm that other Mac formating tools should be able to format this HD to use with OS 8.6 or 9.2.

Many thanks for any help.
Cheers
