I have a slot-loading DVD iMac I bought used. I want to upgrade the RAM. I got the specs from Apple and they said PC100 DIMM but the specs on LowDownMac says PC100 SDRAM. How can I know which is correct? Or does it matter?
[LowDownMac meaning Low End Mac, maybe?]
Both descriptions are correct. (This is easier to understand if you know what SDRAM and DIMM stand for, but maybe that's more than you want to know.)
If you go to the website of a RAM dealer, (Crucial, frinstance), you'll probably find a place where you can just enter the model name of your Mac and then you'll be shown the appropriate RAM for that model, along with whatever number/letter/ specs they care to include as a description.
