Hi,
I have a few questions about using my G3 iMac 233 ( OS 9.2) to record music and then edit it. During the mid 1980s and early 1990s I was in a bunch of bands. I have gathered a pile of cassettes, 7" vinyl, some 1/4" and 1/2 tapes. My goal is to transfer all of these analog sources to digital for the purposes of preservation, editing and re-mixing. My goal is to burn a handful of CDs for family and friends. As with most things, the project must be done on the cheap.
What are the best methods of getting the recorded audio into and copied to the iMac. Currently I am running a dual tape deck into the mic in on the side of the iMac. What would be a good cheap or free software package to use to record and mix the music to the hard drive? Most of the work will be 2=track remastering but there is some 8 track stuff and even a 1/2" 16 track reel of tape to remix.
Please share any thoughts you might have on using the mac in this application.
