I'm not at my Mac mini currently, but if I remember correctly in
utilities when you click on the bluetooth you can change the

encrypted.
Thanks Chris.
I've looked in system preferences, both keyboard & mouse, and
bluetooth. Neither has a setting for encryption. Perhaps it's on by
default on the iMac? Does anyone know?

FInally sitting down at the mini. To set encryption go to System
Preferences, click on 'Bluetooth' in the 'Hardware' section, check
'Require Authentication', check 'Use Encryption'.
Close 'System Preferences'. Open the 'Utilities' folder, click on
'Blue Tooth Setup Assistant', (Note: Be sure to use 'Software Update'
first to be sure you have the latest Bluetooth update). At the
'Introduction' screen click 'Continue'. Click 'Keyboard' under the
'Select Device Type'. Now turn over your keyboard and turn OFF the
power switch (located above the Apple symbol), then turn the power
switch back ON. Click 'Continue', enter the six digit circuit
authentication number and press the 'Return key'. That's it. As you can
see the weak link is the six digit encoding key. If it was alpha
numeric I'd like it even more.
Oh yeah, my OS is OS X 10.3.9
