Thanks again. Rubber Rejuventor is exactly the stufff (I spent 35 years doing analog audio on reel to reel tape so I do know!) but really we are finding the more it gets used the better it gets. Nothing like the first time when we had to use tweezers to get the disc out (not really but nearly!) and it does come out most of the way - I was kind iof doing research in case it got worse...

Long live Vintage Macs! I just got a G4 dual 1.25 for my audio work - finally I am state of the art (2003!) and am thinking hard on whether or not to retire my trusted, workhorse 9500 (G3/450) that has been my good workstation... and was my first Mac.

The liquid you talk about for pinch rollers is exactly what you need (I
was going to say it is the stuff that used to be used on pinch rollers,
but I figured everyone else would have no idea what I'm talking about).

I know you can buy it from MCM Electronics, and I'm sure you can get it
at many other decent electronic repair stores. Radio Shack used to sell
some, but I suspect they don't any more. Look for anything along the
lines of Rubber Deglazing, or Rubber Rejuvenator. If you want to try to
go that route, and you can't find a supplier, let me know and I'm sure I
can turn up a link to it for you.

As I said, the process of deglazing the rollers is the easy part...
getting to them is the hard part. You might have some luck using a stiff
cotton swab and just attacking the visible surface from outside the
drive. It won't do the whole roller, but it might do enough to get the
disk out far enough to easily grab it.
