There are two distinc and opposite chemicals: one to remove gunk, and
one to restore traction. I think you want the traction one (rejuvenator
rather than cleaner) and the tetra is volatile, dangerous, and
anti-environment if I recall correctly. If you find it it may have
evaporated!
As I have learned here, it seems to be loss of grip and not buildup of
junk - though both may be problems, especially if you have inserted
dirty discs (surfaces, that is, not content!)
But I must add that using the old iMac since we got it used has
improved it so much that it no longer needs service! Such a cool
outcome, no fix needed...

It works great on rollers and anything rubber, even though you may have
to re-apply a few times for really heavy material build-up. When I

the break-down of my puter and can dig out the stuff, I'll post to the
list. One thing you don't want to use on the rollers (or anything
rubber,
for that matter) is alcohol or any substance containing alcohol - it
dries
out and hardens the rubber pretty quick.
