I'll tell you, the few time I called Apple for support (some years ago), the first layer of contact really could have been done by a well trained class of, say, 3rd graders. Trained, that is, to say the following, "Could you wait a minute or so?" Trained to then read whatever script popped up when they did a quick key word search (you know, the same stuff you've been reading over a dozen times already and acting upon with zero results).
Piece of cake. I think it's much more honest, if nothing else, to hire some folks where it is at least obvious that that they are poorly trained and undoubtedly poorly paid.
