Hmmm....

I just bought two sticks of 512M in anticipatation of updating my G3
iMac to 1gig. Now, this discussion has me nervous.People have done it
numerous times, so I know it's possible. LEM even lists the max as
1024 megs.

Try updating to firmware 4.1.9 if you haven't already. It's a shot in
the dark, but you will need it for Tiger anyhow.

Also, on the VERY first generation of slot loads (1999), Apple only
tested up to 512 megs. With the 2000 and 2001 models they tested to
the full 1gig I think. So that might be an issue.
