You may want to have a look in your local public libraries, before buying
any hardware or software for your project. My wife is the assistant manager
of the newest branch of the Lexington Public Library (http://lexpublib.org).
Her branch has a Mac equipped digital-media studio which is available for
public use, free of charge. She tells me that this is the latest trend in
public libraries around the country. They offer many analog-to-digital
conversion resources...
