I see there is a motherboard from a First Generation 1.8 GHz G5 iMac on eBay
going for less than ten dollars.
That is the model without the Ambient Light Sensor.

May be its a good idea to practice on something like this before tearing
into your own board. Looks like a possible source of good spare parts and
has 512 MB of RAM as a bonus !!
