I think we should try to understand "all" the reasons that can make a
customer buy on-line. I send you 2 that are not surely the most common
but make sense in the Portuguese context.
1)In Portugal we look for photo and video material in the shops, and
then we buy on-line in a German store.
(a friend of mine bougth a video camera and the price difference was
2000 DM!!!)
(price differences between different countries in Europe...)
I think we still have different prices for cars in different EU states.
2)When I buy in Amazon, I do it because I just can not find the same
books in Portugal. So I definitely can not read them in the portuguese
bookshops and the clients reviews in Amazon are usefull info for me. (
price is not crucial in this situation...)
Should we make a distinction between Amazon USA and Amazon UK?
The last one doesn't have the same titles and delivery time seems worst.
No reviews either, I think.
I believe price will make the difference.
Have a look in Robotshopper and Bottomdolar.

P.S.:
Keep on the Brainstorm about which factors consumers consider in the
decision
buy on-line versus not on-line and wheigths of different factors.
