   If you're modeling an imaging system, especially one that uses a 
semiconductor detector array (FPA - focal plane array), a complete image 
quality prediction requires both the pixel (detector) spacing (pixel center to 
center distances) and the shape and size of the active area of the individual 
detectors. The latter affects both MTF and the detector SNR. Detector active 
area size in some FPA types is less that the pixel spacing.
