Yes, I assume that this are firewalls that block all incoming traffic
on ports > 1024...

Do you have access to a linux box? A little tricky idea would be to
install a so called "bouncer" there which accepts connections on port
80 and forwards them invisible to the IMail machine port 81 or
similar.
