The is no doubt that the older version "looked cleaner", but there is a cost
to minimalism. The following are things that I view as MUST HAVE new
features:
(1) The mailbox size indicator
(2) The frames, since I have heard of no other way to rid myself of the
"please refresh" error when users hit the back button. That message is
unaccepatble. I know it happens because of timeouts, but users think that
the software is broken. This one item would make me switch in a heart beat
no matter what!
Another plus here... I scoll thru mail and mark most for deletion. Then I
see one I want to read. I open it and when I hit the back button, all my
deletes are "unchecked". With these frames I can more quickly scan mail,
mark items for deletion and not worry about lossing changes.
(3) The customizable template sets are really nice. It gives the user a
sense of control. Users like control (even if it's only appearances)
(4) The banner advertising. Although I have only heard little hints about
the functionality, for thosue of us who want some ad revenue off webmail,
better banner integration is a very good thing.
(5) I also hear Ron is working on pop3 access from (though may not release
on ititial release (very big item here!).
On my wish list for Ron (apart from above) are:
(A) Custom trailer.txt files by domain (or even just two versions)
(B) Some way to attach multiple files at once -- HELLO IMAIL ARE YOU
LISTENING -- THIS CANNOT BE HARD :)
(C) I would move the what's yor style under the account options if possible
to make a little room
(D) I would add a small digital clock to the nav bar (I am always for the
time and my computer is always off)
(E) ***** I would love love love a "HomePage" link on the navbar that let's
me set a different homepage for each host (current domain).
Keep up good work ron! Very happy customer...
