It's, written confessions are always useful :)))
>What do I need to do to run IMGate with my system. I am asking
>you as well Ron because you are an imail Guru and just did IMGate
>from my understanding.
As CEO, he did the IMGate purchase order thing. As drone, I did the
IMGate guru thing. But he does have a very selective eye when
choosing quality merchandise. If Ron bought it, you know it's good. :)))
>For my web/mail server I have a new PIII800 box. For IMGate I

The CPU speed isn't the critical item, it's first memory, and then
disk i/o. You mentioned neither. But if you're only talking about
up to 1000 msgs/hour, 25K msgs/day, then 64 megs and one ATA disk is enough.
>I have no clue how to set it all up, including settings for what
>my mail server should have as opposed to IMGate
The only setting to change in IMail is "smtp:send all mail through a
gateway" and enter the ip of the IMGate box.
For IMGate setup, many people get along fine following my IMGate
site's instructions and using my config files.
Many others, like Ron, get along fine having me set IMGate up.
Either way, you're ok. I don't know of any IMGate users who are not
extremely satisfied. Sometimes, after they get it running, we have
to recommend pills to calm them down. :)))
>and I would like to add a firewall to my system as well (don't have
>one yet :( ).
>Do I need a third box as well for that?
Yes, it's best to have the main firewall box in its own box, esp if
you're doing a PC based firewall. The simpler the firewall box (less
qty of software), the more secure it is.
