I just installed two AltiGen systems here. I really don't know how I
survived with out them. I have an incredible dealer - DirectLink in Southern
California. Plus, we were one of the first (if not THE first) telemarketing
center to use their new 4.0 software.

I managed to get a beta copy of their ActiveX componenent and I started
writing software for it. I wrote a tight little program that links with
GoldMine. When the phone is answered it tells the sales rep what to say
(based on which 800 # was called) and finds the contact in GoldMine. It adds
the contact if it doesn't exist. If the phone isn't answered it sends an
alert to the manager and logs the RNA (AltiGen speak: "Ring No Answer") in
our SQL server.

AltiGen also has built in reporting to SQL. I can run a SQL statement that
compares our callers to our sales. Incredibly Powerful. We run calls vs.
sales on a per sales rep basis to see what their closing ratio is. It's
already improved sales!

One of the best features: I don't have to pay $100+ per visit to some phone
tech. Our last system was a 1975 AT&T PBX. Now I can add / change EVERYTHING
through a nice little GUI interface. Either at the server, at my
workstation, or through my DSL line at home.

I spent 6 months researching every single phone system out there. 3COM's NBX
(SUCKS!), Cisco, TeleVantage, etc. Choosing AltiGen was one of the best
decisions I've made.

Altigen has some nice bells and whistles .. however they've proven to be a
little bit of a difficult company to work with in some cases, and not very
well-managed. Whether or not this affects the product is up to you to
decide. A couple major distributors have since dropped their line. The
Artisoft solutions are gaining a very wide audience, though.
