Many websites have lists of staff members email addresses. If I click on
this and I have an email client installed on my computer, the mailto: link
will bring up my email client, with a new message addressed to that address.

Thus avoiding the cumbersome copy/paste (some mailto's don't even display
the address or not the correct one anyway - but the link is correct) - or
the typo potential in reading and retyping.

Conceivably, someone could create a browser plug in to activate webmail,
possibly even COMPOSE, if there were a way to jump into compose.
