Well...

I for one am not happy camper about this crappy release of Imail 7.0x.
There are WAY too many bugs and it should have never been released
without further testing in real world environments. We pay roughly $2500
per imail server license. Support has been almost non-responsive with
the same drone answers of "we're not aware of that" or "we're looking
into it" or the latest "we know, we'll fix that in the 7.03 release."

We have discovered and reported two serious bugs to IpSwitch and we
don't even get as much as a "thank you" for being the bug finder of what
is supposed to be a solid, commercial, gold, or whatever you want to
call it, final release.

They are taking way to long to respond to support calls, way to long to
release additional hot fixes for things that they know are impacting
some of us and thus, our customers. Heck, I still have support tickets
open they haven't even taken the time to call me back on (it's going on
3 weeks now).

I've just about had it with the complete lack of concern for serious
customer support and customer concern by Ipswitch. They've got our money
and they don't seem to give a rats you know what that we're having
problems, well, at least the support department does care.

We did in-fact go out an purchase Vircom's VOPMail (www.vircom.com) last
week to get some of our clients back on-line, because iMail decided it
didn't like the host name.

We paid approx 2K for what seems (in our test) like a much more stable
product. Yeah, it doesn't have a pretty calendar like iMail, but it
doesn't work anyways and is way different the documentation on the thing
(has anyone actually read the 7.0 printed manual? It's obvious that they
technical writers are talking about almost a complete different
application then what the developers released), so who cares.

Stop adding crap to the app, and fix the core product. I would rather
have a stable POP and SMTP server with a working web interface then a
calendar that is supposed to sync to Outlook. Add it after you get a
stable core product. Even 6.06 wasn't all fixed. It still has problems.
Fix the Core and then worry about the rest of the bells and whistles
later. Geeze.... That's just common sense.

BTW.. Has anyone seen the RC2 of Win XP Pro? I swear the GUI designer
must have been hired from Playschool or Sesame Street. What is up with
the toyish looking interface?

All I want is a support department that actually cares and is
responsive, and a mail server that runs without issue. Ipswitch
certainly hasn't delivered this time around. I knew I should have stuck
with 6.06.

Yes.. The "paying through the nose" comment was a little off, but I can
see and understand his meaning and I feel his pain, so-to-say.

Ipswitch messed up and they don't want to admit it, or even say "sorry,
we released a buggy app to make a quarterly deadline."

I'll get off my soap box and stop ranting, but Ipswich, ya messed up...
Admit it and Fix it!

Sincerely,

Slade @ Here, Inc.

I'm having the same issue, as I'm sure many people are ... But let's be
realistic - Unless you paid a different price than the rest of us, you
certainely didn't "Pay Through the Nose". I will admit to a lot of
irritation at ipswitch for what they put us through to prove an issue is
real, then to fix it.

Hi Steve

Unfortunately I have the same problem and until now no solution for
it...

Obviously there isn't a solution available from Ipswitch. I think I paid
through the nose for this programm - right now it isn't worth the money
and I seriously think about using other products.

Betreff: [imail] Imail 7.0 Web Service crashing after installing
templates

I just recently purchased the Web Templates and installed them on my
server. The config is:

Was Imail 6.06
Upgraded to Imail 7.02 with hotfixes
Installed Web templates for version 7.0 with hotfixes.

Windows 2000 Server with SP2
Compaq Proliant DL360
640 meg RAM
Dual PIII 833 Processors
Compaq Smart 4DH Array Controller
Mirrored System Volumes
RAID 5+1 Data volume

This server has been in production for more than six months running
Imail 6.0x without any problems.

Now with Imail 7.02 and the v7.0 web templates, the Web Mail Service
crashes every few hours. Sometimes I also have Internet Explorer crash
on my Windows ME client when trying to access my site. Any suggestions
and has this error been reported before?

Thanks,
Steve Brewer
