She is
using the web interface and is using a PC running Internet Explorer. She said
that the same attachment opens fine when sent to her husband's Hotmail account,
just not her account on the IMail server. I have asked her for the version of IE
she is using to see if she is using a really old version. The firewall/filter
option is something I will ask her about the next time I speak with
her.

Subject: RE: [imail] Opening attachmentsWhat type of computer is she using and how is she getting her mail, POP3 client, web interface...? Since upgrading to 7.0x I have not be able to have Macs using IE get any attachments. If they use NN they are fine. Just something to try. There is also an issue of proxy servers between the mail server and the client. Check to see if she has a personal firewall or filter running at her house.-----Original Message-----

Subject: [imail] Opening attachmentsI am new to this list so I apologize in advance if this subject has been discussed already. We are using IMail version 7.03 here at Winthrop. I have a user who is having a problem. Here is the description. When she receives an attachment in Word format, if she tries to open the document, it comes up in funky characters. The way she described it, it sounds like the what you would see if you opened a Word Perfect document in Word without converting it. She can not open and read any Word attachments. This only seems to happen on her home computer. From on campus, everything works fine. The attachments open correctly. I had her log on to two machines in my office (one was Win2000 running IE 6 and Office 2000, the other was Win95 running IE 5.0 running Office 97) and they both worked. The only place they do not work is her computer. My first thought would be a problem with Office on her PC. However, if the attachment is sent to a Hotmail account and opened on her PC, it works fine there. It only does not open on her PC using IMail.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
