I have to second Sandy's observation. We are using IMAIL 6.04 in conjunction
with MS SQL Server 7 at an ISP with thousands of user accounts. It works
beautifully. If you need any specific advice, please contact off-list

Sir/Madam,

>you cannot run an external database ( like oracle, or sql ) with
>imail no matter what odbc driver you use

This is patently untrue, as huge numbers of people will tell you. Just
to make sure I haven't gone crazy, I just went into an old Imail 6 box
and set up an ODBC virtual host against SQL Server 7 in about 45
seconds. I am sorry you had trouble with your setup, and I'm not
saying your problems weren't Imail's fault, but your experience was
not the rule (the rule being, I suppose, "It can be annoying to set
up, but you usually get it.").

So, back to Ryan. Ryan, the first thing I would tell you is to test
your ODBC connection in full using an app like Excel and passing a UID
and PWD, rather than trusting the ODBC Admin on anything. Others will
give you better advice that is specific to Oracle.

Sandy
