Dustin,
I can answer that! If the version you have is not EXACTLY the same as that
in our distributions (V6.0/6.01/6.02), yes, you will have problems patching
to 6.03 and will need to either install one of those versions, then patch,
or replace the new dll with an old version, then patch. I do not know what
Bob gave you, but suspect it was one that was 'in the works' for a new
version. Yes, it is possible Bob gave you a 'standard' one, but more likely
he did not (you could have gotten that from anyone at Ipswitch Support, or
Bob would have, likely, told you to just re-installed).
No apologies needed, I just wanted all to know, that on occasions we do
provide 'beta' versions of programs and dlls to people experiencing problems
as a way to test 'fixes' (make sure they really address a particular
problem) and when that is done, special care and steps need be taken,
before, during and after that 'fix' is applied. Usually, patch files are
VERY specific about what it checks (version stuff along with file dates and
size!) and if it finds ONE file that is not correct, the patch will fail
(which means a support call or email and unless you tell us you had a
'special' version of a program, it could take longer than needed to 'fix'
you).
All,
BTW, I have played with the SSL tools (self signed cert only) and I found
that when the Utility asks for the name of the key/cert file, it is best to
provide it with another name, not 'server' (the name of the ones provided as
part of the install). Not sure why, but that name seems to cause trouble and
it also causes the default cert/key files to be overwritten and that keeps
one from using the SSL Utility again, unless you re-install to rewrite the
key/cert files. Of course, one could copy the server.* files to another
location (as backup) and then copy back, if needed.
