I need some help.

We're running IMAIL 5 (tried various versions of this)

Often (3x a day) it stops allowing customers to send mail out.  It logs SMTP
AUTH FAILURES, while the web interface still works with the same username
and password.

Restarting the SMTP service usually takes care of this, but we can't be
restarting a service 3x per day!

We can't seem to figure out what is causing or triggering this behaviour,
but it sounds like a bug.
