Dusty,
we're using exclusively SMTP AUTH. We've got several customers (it seems
always the same ones) who suddenly at some point during the day (various
times) are rejected by the server.
The log shows SMTP AUTH failed.
Waiting for a while sometimes clears this up. Sometimes it needs a restart
of the SMTP service. (of course we can't have someone reboot this thing
every day 3 or more times... we'll go back to sendmail...)
Our total userbase is currently approx. 2000 users over approx 700 domain
names.
The problem started already around 300 users, so I don't think the size is
significant. I think this phenomenon is annoying at best, and a BUG at
worst.
Anthony
