Weird thing like that happened to me the other day.
The alarms went off and the mail server had crashed. (I monitor our systems
on another machine.)
When I rebooted the server, web messaging had gone completely wack-o. All of
it's settings had disappeared, and it had changed it's working directory so
none of the web pages were in the right place. I corrected all of the
settings manually, rebooted again, and it worked ok since...
NOTHING weird is running on this machine, it is dedicated to BIND, and
IMAIL. Usually I have no problems... and this time I have no explanation.
