That's the problem that I was also trying to figure out. I was thinking of not
informing the sender (which is the idea of a "black hole", things go in never to be
seen again), since the overhead of sending the bounce messages to non-existant
addresses would double the server load.

On the bright side, though, the spammer would be grinning away that he stole your
services... and that his E-mail went out. He would charge his shady buddy for his
services, then his shady buddy would wonder why not a single person responded to the
E-mail...

I've considered doing the same thing - the only problem with that is the
sender believes the mail HAS been delivered, unless you also attempt to
notify the sender that the mail was dumped do to the RBL lookup. This would
create an unnecessary load on the smtp server and your notifications are
most likely going to bogus reply-to addresses anyway.

Better to shut the door in their face then to let them in and lead therm to
the dumpster.

possible to do a post-receipt RBL check (that would cause E-mail from IPs on
the RBL to "disappear" after they arrive on your system), using IMail's
virus scanner interface. Would this be something worth pursuing?
