There was a web page posted here a while back, or on another list, where an
ISP cracked a spammers computer. There were ICQ logs of the spammer
chatting with her cohorts, Email, all sorts of stuff. When they sent out a
"dictionary" file of Email addresses to a ISP, they recorded the incoming
bad names that were bounced and the program they had would sort them out and
keep the good names for that ISP. The program also "automatically" sorted
out mail servers in the Maps RBL by checking it before trying a relay,
saving them "tons of time" (the spammers words).
Best to just shut verify off, and set the max messages to something like
100, and let the big UBE die at the server and be done with it. It's
stopped the attacks here so far. We used to get hit two or three times a
week, since the change about a month ago, we don't get hit at all.

bounce back from forged email that it was not a valid user and if it was a
UBE that it should be considered a scam.. That way when the person gets wind
that his UBE is getting a bounce back that it is a scam he thinks twice
about forged FROM lines.

in never to be seen again), since the overhead of sending the bounce
messages to non-existant addresses would double the server load.
