>I don't know that CRAM-MD5 is. Can you decipher the info you sent?

That's the char-by-char dialogue between my Eudora and your Imail,
with my Eudora trying to send you a msg.

You're Imail announces 250-AUTH CRAM-MD5 and my Eudora presents "AUTH
CRAM-MD5" command at which point your SMTPD is supposed to give me a
encryption key with which I encrypt my username+password to send back
as my login string.

the pb is that when I say AUTH, your Imail doesn't come back,
indicating that the SMTPD process that handles SMTP AUTH is not
responding. Anyway, that's a side show.

I don't have any ideas for your known users being unknown.

It's very strange that one Imail forwarding to the other server fails
'unknown user', when mailing to that server from internet works.
