Running NT 4 with SP5 and MS DNS service, no problems noted. I suspect there
is an inconsistency in one or more of your DNS files but, without further
data, that's not much help. It's a bit of work but, perhaps , backup the
data files, delete the DNS service, install SP5, reinstall the DNS service
and restore the files. Stop and restart, keep fingers crossed. If it works,
you will have to reinstall SP5 and hope... Just my 2 cents worth...

PS: DNS entries are also written to the registry. Try MS regclean... Be
careful!
