In fact I have implemented this using my IMGATE ( great program/solution ) 
machines which we setup a few months ago.  It has taken a big load off of 
the IMAIL servers and the mail delivery problems the customers were 
complaining of have appeared to stop.

Could be....I have Imail pointed to the UU.NET cache servers
