I have two I-mail servers. One is hosting corporate and one is hosting
customer E-mail. Each host has an alias as part of our new name. Let's
establish the names:

Host name Alias
corp.com newcorp.com
cust.net newcust.net

I have the corporate server setup as a secondary mail server in DNS to
handle overflow. Here is what is happening. If a person sends and E-mail
to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and it goes to corp.com, corp.com will relay it to cust.net
without a problem. However, if a person sends an E-mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
and it goes to corp.com it will not be relayed and the sender will receive
the following message:

From: Mailer-Daemon <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
> Sent: Tuesday, December 12, 2000 12:18 AM
> Subject: Undeliverable message, returning to sender

Here is what the logs say:

12:12 12:13 SMTPD(29DD005E) [208.186.161.99] MAIL
FROM:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
12:12 12:13 SMTPD(29DD005E) [208.186.161.99] RCPT TO:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
ORCPT=rfc822;[EMAIL PROTECTED] NOTIFY=FAILURE
12:12 12:13 SMTPD(29DD005E) [208.186.161.99] ERR corp.com invalid user
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]

For right now we have edited the DNS records so that corp.com is not listed
a secondary mail system for newcust.net. But some advice on how to work
with this would be appreciated. I have been reading in the manual about
accept.txt but am not sure that this is what I am looking for.

Thanks
