Howard,
Your DNS looks OK, as far as MX and A records for this domain. However, the
SOA record (the first part) shows a different Name Server, then the NS
records (the second chunk) and that could be related to the troubles (I did
not specifically check Angel, NS1 or NS2). Here is what I find:
stabilizersolutions.com.
nameserver = angel.banet.com.
mailaddress =
serial number= 7, refresh = 3600, retry = 600,
expire = 86400, minimum = 3600.
stabilizersolutions.com.
nameserver = NS1.BANET.COM.
nameserver = NS2.BANET.COM.
63.171.176.121
10, mail.stabilizersolutions.com.
mail.stabilizersolutions.com.
63.171.176.106
When I connect to the above host (mail.), on port 25, I get:
220 X1 NT-ESMTP Server banet.com (IMail 6.05 1466-2)
And below are some commands I tried to see if this is a valid user in a
valid domain:
vrfy root
252 Cannot VRFY user
ehlo test
250-banet.com says hello
250-SIZE 0
250-8BITMIME
250-DSN
250-ETRN
250-AUTH LOGIN CRAM-MD5
250-AUTH=LOGIN
250 EXPN
mail from: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
250 ok
rcpt to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
250 ok its for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
rcpt to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
250 ok its for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
As you can see, this worked just fine. So the problem is likely, DNS related
and the sending server is not getting the 'correct' information about the
host/ip address, it needs to connect to your server (so it cannot 'reach'
the host). If other sites can send you email and this one cannot, then have
them use Lookup (NSLOOKUP or some other tools, like Ping Pro) to see if they
can resolve the hostname, to the right IP. There are other tools
(www.samspade.org) that you can use to check your DNS(s) that do more than I
did and will point out problems with your DNS.
I don't think there is any problem with IMail based upon my testing. If you
want, I can send a complete message (actually I will anyway) to that user,
just to prove it 'works'. One copy sent to that user and another to 'root'
in the same domain, with a request to 'reply'.
Daniel Donnelly
