Hello,
I know that this question has come up hundreds of times and hundreds of
answers have been given, but in my weird case there is always a strange
error.
I use IMAIL 6.05 (newest patch), Win2000 Server with SP1, plenty of
available disk space, 256Mb RAM.
I handle about 10 domains, each with its own IP address.
I use ODBC user authentication.
I have tried to use "RELAY FOR ADDRESSES" and "NO MAIL RELAY" and there are
two errors that ever come up:
One is the well known "not a gateway" error.
The other is the less known "The TCP/IP connection was unexpectedly
terminated by the server. (Account: [EMAIL PROTECTED], SMTP Server:
mail.infocon.pl, Error Number: 0x800ccc0f)".
Here is what happens:
Having the Outlook 2000 Client with the CHECKED "My server Requires Auth"
check box, if I:
1) UNCHECK the "Disable SMTP Auth Reporting" on the server, I get the
0x800ccc0f error (connection unexpectedly terminated by the server).
2) CHECK the "Disable SMTP Auth Reporting" on the server, I get the
"not a gateway" error (error nr. 550 I believe).
Having the Outlook 2000 Client with the UNCHECKED "My server Requires Auth"
check box, if I:
1) UNCHECK the "Disable SMTP Auth Reporting", I get the 0x800ccc79 error
2) CHECK the "Disable SMTP Auth Reporting", I get the "not a gateway" error.
Ofcourse I always restart the IMAIL services after any SMTP changes.
Has anybody seen this strange "connection unexpectedly terminated by the
server" error?
thanks, I appreciate your feedback.
Marcin
