I think I just solved the problem. Reading another entry about changing
registry settings gave me an idea. I am sure that it is an unsupported idea.
I went into the registry, saved the Imail key wihtout modifications first
(!), then went in and changed the "actual" full server name in every entry
(searched for it) to mail.uhsweb.com. That included renaming the key which
was named after the actual name of my server to mail.uhsweb.com.
I did add an entry to my lmhosts file for mail.uhsweb.com, but I think it is
probably unnecessary, since that host name already resolves to the correct
IP.
To test, I sent mail to my account on hotmail, which I received there.
Replied from hotmail, received that, then checked my current log, and guess
what? It used EHLO mail.uhsweb.com!
Hooray!
