If you're building a box just for DNS, I'd say the ONLY reason to go with an
MS OS is if you absolutely can not learn a Unix variant (which is very
unlikely). If it's going to take 3 months to switch ISPs then you have 3
months to learn enough about Linux to set up a much cheaper, more secure,
and probably more robust system. RPM and the similar tools make it very
easy to install updates as needed and if you just want to run a name server
you don't have to worry about securing the other protocols. You just turn
them off. It really isn't all that hard when you don't care need to
configure X windows, SAMBA, etc.
Pick up or download a copy of RedHat and give it a try. You'll be much
happier in the long run.

depends on your queries in and esp how much recursive queries.
On win32, esp on W2K, I wouldn�t go with less than 128 megs, due to OS
memory consumption.
best way is to build it and see how it goes.
