In general its considered rude to request a receipt when sending to
a mailing list and the list usage/etiquette guidelines should mention
not to do it.
I suspect most beginners expect the listserver to acknowledge the
receipt not realizing that it gets delivered to all the subscribers.
Usually one round of receiving tons of acknowledgements is sufficient
to cure them of that habit :-)
