That's quite normal, if the user doesn't exist.
If the user does exist, that's a different story. Most likely, it's the
IMail bug that causes it to use the A record of a domain name even if the
MX records do exist. Then, it will probably contact a web server that
probably (because Microsoft thinks their way is the best) has an SMTP
server running that is never used. It isn't designed to accept mail for
the domain, so it isn't delivered.
