Ken,

We just finished setting this up at the user level and still need to test
this at the domain level. Here is what we did.

1> Create a user called Auto_Responder (or something like this)

2> In this user directory add a file called rejected.INF (name it what you
want as long as it has the 'INF' extension). In this file enter the message
you wish to relay to the originator of the bad email. Reference IMail KB
article IM-19990611-DM03 on how to include parts of the original email.

3> In the user directory add a file called rejected.FWD (name it what you
want as long as it has the 'FWD' extension). In this file enter the email
address you want the original email to go or 'NUL' to delete the email.

This will enable the Info Manager function. We did not use the IMail admin
interface because it did not display the work we had done. We did everything
with a text editor.

4> At the user level (or domain level if it works) add the file 'RULES.IMA'.
I'm assuming you know about this. After each rule the send-to parameter
should be 'rejected'.

5> At the user level (or domain level if it works) add the file rejected.FWD
(name it what you want as long as it has the 'FWD' extension). In this file
should be the email address '[EMAIL PROTECTED]'.

This is the basics. You can specify your return message based on the reason
it was rejected by adding additional 'INF' files in the Auto_Responder
directory and 'FWD' files for the rules to point to.

For example we have two return messages for invalid emails. One is for a
blank subject and the other is for unacceptable file attachments.

Hope this helps!

Subject: [IMail Forum] Rules.ima and Case Sensitivity

Are the rules in the rules.ima file case insensitive by default? If
they are case sensitive, how do I make them insensitive?

Also, is there a way to return the rejected mail to sender ?

Also, why drop things into a Spambox... why not send everything to NUL ?
