There are a number of mail checkers, that, when installed, sit in the Icon Tray and
every so often, check your mail to see if there are any new messages. And they are
Free!

I was wondering if anyone knows of an easy way of checking via asp if a user has new
messages within their mailbox when they haven't logged in. Our scenario is this, We
have a website and people check their email via our website. We thought it would be
convenient if we could let the user know when they have a new messages in their
mailbox. This way they don't have to login to the mail system if they don't have a new
message. I have been looking through the main.mbx file and saw that there is a status
flag that is set to either R (read) or U(Unread). I suppose one could count the number
of unread messages in the file but there must be an easier way. Does imail save this
number of new messages in another file somewhere? Does anyone know an easy way of
doing this or is the way i have proposed the best way.
