Goto http://www.internic.net/whois.html and type in your domain. It will
tell you the registrar, whois server, registrar homepage and dns servers.
This will work for .biz, .com, .edu, .info, .int, .museum, .net, and .org.

As far as registrar themselves, we also use Netsol/Verisign as little as
possible. We have been using the OpenSRS with great experiences and easy
after registration management. They are a wholesale registrar who work with
ISPs and the like. I have a web design firm that hosts many sites with us
and they have been using bulkregister with some mixed results.

If your not registering/renewing many domains there are many Resellers for
the OpenSRS and other registrars that can help you out with smaller
quanties.
(myself included). The transfer process is pretty straight forward if your
listed administration email accounts are in order.
