What version and/or size is your cpqntac.sys file (\winnt\system32\drivers\)

If the file is not at least version 1.00.01.0017 (9/22/99) then you need to
update it.

Normally, you could just pull the NIC and reboot without any problems, but
with a embedded NIC you're going to have to disable it in the BIOS. You
should then be able to boot fine. Get the latest version from Compaq's
site, and enable the card. The server should boot fine.

Subject: [IMail Forum] ongoing boot problem

Hello -
I posted a questions a couple of weeks ago regarding my upgrade to 7.05. I'm
running N NT4.0 sp6a. I upgraded from imail 6.06 to 7.05 hf 2. I'm running
on a Compaq proliant 1850 R server. When I restarted the system, I got a
blue screen. I had a couple of responses from you guys, and have replaced
the ram, reinstalled ver 6.06, rebooted - same thing. Then I reinstalled
7.05 (no hotfix) - I'm still having the same problem. I can still boot to
the HAL recovery mode and everything seems to be working fine. My network
adapter card is an compaq netelligent 10/100 embedded. If anyone has any
other ideas, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks,
Kim
